COURSE INDICATOR - Nautical -Early s Mahogany - USA Prototy for sale in San Marcos, CA

1 of 1
I am offering an original refurbished (not a reproduction) Helmsman s Course to Steer Indicator. This unit was mounted on the bulkhead in front of the Helm to indicate the course desired in degrees. The OOD was responsible for adjusting the bearing setting as needed. It measures W x T x D with a plastic window to view the lt degree courses sciled (medium blue ink) on a translucent like canvas roll which is adjusted by a reversible mechanism via large knob on the right side. The manufacturer s tag is still attached and reads VELEZ COURSE INDICATOR INC. U.S. AND FOREIGN PATENTS PENDING MALDEN MASS. . Based on the design materials used and the over built quality this unit was likely made in the early to middle s and could well be a of a kind prototype. The case appears to be Mahogany (with brass hardware) and includes an electric box containing a volt input plus an on off switch for the light assembly. This very rare functional nautical artifact is in excellent condition and a prime example of the quality U.S. craftsmanship during this era.
